Hi! I'm Vicky and I'm 14. I have been a member of D-MYST since it first started and I really love it. I go to St. Edward's and I'm in Year 10. I love to sing. I have been singing since I was little and I am hoping in the near future that I can get singing lessons. I also love to dance and I go to a Latin American dance class every week. I like general things like shopping and being with my friends. I enjoy walking my dog, Charlie and I'm always up for a laugh. My favourite things to do are sing, laugh, eat, sleep and talk for hours on end. xx
I joined D-MYST because I thought that it was a great idea. I learned all of the dangerous facts about smoking which scared me as I did not know smoking was as bad as I had been told. I believed that raising awareness on the dangers of tobacco and smoking was very important because I was aware of the fact that many people start smoking at a very young age. I thought that if they knew exactly what smoking could do to them then they would think twice the next time they picked up a cigarette.
D-MYST is a growing group and people across the country are starting to know us. We have made quite a big impact on raising awareness and our campaigns have been very successful. I do not find it like work, as I know that what we are doing is important and I know that we can make a difference. Young children are targeted by the Tobacco Industry and they are expected to replace their dead customers. It is completely unfair to young people and smoking could ruin their future. Parents which smoke can pass their second-hand smoke onto their children and it is unfair that a child has to suffer invisibly. D-MYST, I believe is a way that people will see how much children are affected every day. I really want to make a difference as smoking kills millions of people every year and I want to do as best I can to try and stop it.
