Hi! I'm Greg and I'm 12. I am currently the youngest member of D-MYST and I really enjoy all of the things we do. I love football and NFL. I go to St. Edwards with my sister Vicky and I am in Year 7. I play on a football and NFL team during the week and on Saturdays I go to karate with my friends. I love my dog and I like to watch the TV, especially football channels. Swimming and tennis are things I also like to do.
I joined D-MYST because I wanted to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking. People who are my age, and sometimes younger. are targeted by The Tobacco Industry, mostly through movies which is what our latest campaign is about. I would like to imagine a smokefree future for all and I am very pleased with the smokefree work places rule which was ordered 1st July 2007. My Grandad died as a result of smoking before I was born and I'm sure it has happened to other kids.
I would like people to understand how dangerous it is to smoke and not just for yourself, but for those around you. Many people die from lung cancer even if they do not smoke. It is because of them being constantly surrounded by someone else's smoke, like a parents. I am glad with the idea that D-MYST is teaching people about the dangers of smoking. Although people have the right to smoke if they want to, they do not have the right to affect their friends, children or workmates. I want to do everything I can to help us get one step closer to a smokefree future.
